Location
Jamahiriya lies in the northern part of Africa. it is surrounded by six countries: Egypt and Sudan from the east, Tunis and Algeria from the west. Chad and Niger from the south, while in the north lays the Mediterranean Sea with a coast extending for 2000 Kilometers.

Climate
Climate varies from one region to another in the Jamahiriya. The weather on the coastal region is warm in winter and hot dry in summer (Med. Type of climate).
In the Sahara the climate is hot dry in summer and cool in winter.

The population of the Jamahiriya is nearly 5,000,000 . 75% of the total population lives in the towns on the coastal region, e.g. Tripoli, Benghazi, Zawia, Derna, Musrata and others.
As the projects of industry widespread all over the Jamahiriya, the density of population in the interior towns increased, e.g. in Sabha and others.
